Advanced Automation Solutions and Special Systems

- 1. Supercritical CO2 Process and Extraction Plants (Lab, Production & Industrial Scale)
- Application Context: Complex industrial systems for extraction, fractionation, and material treatment processes with supercritical carbon dioxide. The systems operate continuously at high pressure with advanced configurations featuring multiple in-line extractors and separators.
- Description: Complete development of thermodynamic control logic and process automation. The HMI monitors the evolution of variables in real time, adjusting pressure ramps, high-pressure pump flow rates, subcooling systems, and individual stage temperatures with pinpoint precision to ensure precise extraction selectivity. The system manages complex recipes for each matrix, constantly monitoring dozens of field sensors to ensure complete traceability of process data.
- B&R Reference: The architecture is based on the stability of B&R's industrial controllers and supervisory PCs. Thanks to the precision of the analog I/O modules for thermal and pressure control and the implementation of advanced PID algorithms, we can guarantee perfect fluid stability in the supercritical state. The system integrates advanced management of graphical trends and data logging for process quality analysis.

- 2. Special Machines, Press Brakes and Automotive Assembly Lines
- Application Context: Special machine tools, presses and highly flexible robotic forming or assembly lines intended for the manufacturing industry and in particular the automotive sector.
- Description: Design and development of advanced, tailormade software solutions for modular machine architectures. Our solutions allow end customers to use a single base machine and reconfigure it completely independently, installing different electromechanical or hydraulic units on board or modifying the number of active cylinders and actuators via the HMI. The system offers maximum production flexibility, allowing the operator to generate and define their own customized machine cycle directly on the screen to produce completely different parts.
- B&R Reference: Leveraging the open architecture and high-performance computing power of B&R's PLC and Numerical Control (CNC) platforms, we have standardized code development by creating a single, unified human-machine interface (HMI). The openness of the B&R system has allowed us to develop proprietary software libraries capable of abstracting the hardware: the operator can thus interface with and control an electric axis or a proportional hydraulic axis with the same graphical and logical methods , dramatically simplifying system use and maintenance activities. Real-time synchronization via the deterministic POWERLINK bus guarantees the millimetric geometric precision of coordinated movements.

- 3. Factory Connectivity, Safety and Distributed Control
- Application Context: Electrical panels, on-board machines, and communication networks for complex industrial plants and robotic islands, where flexibility for on-site modification and data integration are stringent requirements.
- Description: Hardware and software engineering focused on maximum responsiveness to customer-requested changes during machine development. Centralization of production data for OEE KPIs and implementation of predictive diagnostics and advanced safety logic.
- B&R Reference: The adoption of the B&R modular ecosystem allows you to manage security natively through a Functional logic Programmable safety , integrating barriers and protections without burdening traditional wiring. The modularity of the decentralized I/O blocks allows for easy expansion and reconfiguration of distributed stations or pneumatic islands on board the machine. Thanks to integrated support for the standard OPC UA protocol , data flows from the numerical control and sensors are conveyed in real time to higher-level IT systems (MES/ERP), fully meeting the technological requirements of Industry 4.0.

- 4. 3D Digital Twin Systems and AI Integration (3D TWIN Platform)
- Application Context: Advanced supervision, predictive maintenance and immersive training applied to large process plants such as supercritical CO2 extraction systems.
- Description: Development of a photorealistic 3D "Digital Twin" platform interfaced in real time with the machine. The system translates complex field variables into an immediate visual experience: it allows the instant search for a physical component on the 3D model to open the corresponding 2D layout on the HMI, integrates an AI assistant capable of communicating with technical manuals to resolve issues, and calculates system efficiency in real time by comparing it with the optimal reference cycle ( Golden Run ). The platform also supports a Virtual Reality (VR) module for immersive operator training and global real-time remote assistance.
- B&R Reference: This solution transforms the data streams generated by B&R controllers and I/O modules into informed business decisions. Leveraging native connectivity and continuous data logging, the platform extracts critical process parameters (pump and heater consumption, pressures, and state diagrams) and makes them accessible in a granular manner. The resulting digital bridge optimizes predictive maintenance, eliminates operator risk, and safeguards the plant's expertise over time.
