Beskrivelse BIOS Upgrade

BIOS Upgrade for Mobile Panel 100 BIOS devices.

****************************************************************
WARNING
Do not abort a running BIOS upgrade! Otherwise the Mobile Panel cannot be rebooted afterwards and must be sent to B&R for repair.
Retry the aborted upgrade process WITHOUT rebooting the Mobile Panel, for example by directly calling batch file UPDBIOS.BAT.
****************************************************************

****************************************************************After a BIOS upgrade the BIOS uses automatically the CMOS default settings. If you have changed settings in the CMOS Setup you must change these settings again after upgrade! Therefore write down your settings before upgrading.
****************************************************************

1. Copy all files to a bootable disk.

***************************************************************
WARNING
The boot disk should be created with DOS, Windows ME or XP.
With Windows 98 boot disks errors may occur when upgrading the BIOS - the Mobile Panel cannot boot after the upgrade then!
***************************************************************

Note: You can use a bootable Compact Flash card instead of a disk also.

2. Insert the disk in a (USB) floppy drive connected to the Mobile Panel and re-boot the device.

Note: You can use the floppy drive of a remote PC via the Power Panel / Mobile Panel Remote Host (short: REMHOST) Utility The REMHOST utility is available as separate download from B&R.

3. A boot menu with following options is shown after booting:

1. Upgrade complete System
All BIOS areas (XpressROM and FPGA firmware) will be updated automatically (default after 5 sec).

2. Upgrade XpressROM BIOS
Only the XpressROM BIOS will be updated automatically.

3. Upgrade FPGA Firmware
Only both FPGA firmware will be updated automatically.

4. Save complete System
All BIOS areas (XpressROM and FPGA Firmware) will be automatically saved.

***********************************************************
There must be up to 640 kbytes free space left on the disk.
***********************************************************

5. Save XpressROM BIOS
Only the XpressROM BIOS will be saved automatically.

***********************************************************
There must be about 256 kbytes free space left on the disk.
***********************************************************

6. Save FPGA Firmware
Only both FPGA firmware will be saved automatically.

***********************************************************
There must be up to 384 kbytes free space left on the disk.
***********************************************************

7. Exit
Exit to the Shell (MS-DOS).

4. Select the desired action.

5. Remove disk and reboot system after successful upgrade.

Fixes

- Boot time with a Silicon Systems CF card ("SiliconDrive") was 5 to 6 seconds longer than with a SanDisk CF card.
- A&P 89520: The system was rebooted when a key was pressed on the USB keyboard during boot from USB floppy between summary screen and boot message.
- QVGA BIOS version only: register contents were maybe destroyed at display of the CF Card info in the BIOS setup.

Changes

- BIOS setup, Device Information menu: Text "CPU Intern" changed to "CPU Internal".
- Wait time increased from 200 ms to 400 ms at TFT power on to avoid stripes on cHMI SVGA display. This int 10h patch has also an effect when switching the video mode in Windows XP.
- BIOS and FPGA firmware files are saved into SAVED folder.
- Check of BIOS file at BIOS update was improved.
- RDFPRES.EXE was removed. The QVGA detection is done by XFLASH.EXE now.
- File 6504_1.STN replaced by 6504_1.FP.
- The display timings from the factory settings are used at resolution setting "Auto", if bit 3 of the display type in the Factory Settings is set to 1. The TFT Power Sequence Delay from the factory settings is read with factory settings version 5 or higher.
- Flat Panel resolution "Auto (+ Timing)" added in BIOS Setup: like "Auto" but display timings are read always from factory settings instead of BIOS internal tables.
Remark: resolution "Auto (+ Timing)" will be reset to "Auto" at BIOS update or Load Optimized Defaults -> maybe wrong timings are used then!
- If the display timings from the factory settings cannot be set - for instance if a timing value cannot be converted for representation as SoftVGA register - the internal display timings are used.
