X20 Edge with built-in 4G modem
A new variant of the B&R X20 Edge features an integrated 4G modem. This opens up vast new possibilities and use cases for connecting machine control to enterprise systems in remote locations without local network infrastructure, along with additional flexibility and data logging capabilities leveraging the Industrial IoT.
The X20 Edge is a compact industrial edge computing platform that extends the B&R X20 system with powerful local processing and versatile connectivity. Now it has been enhanced with the addition of an integrated 4G global modem. This eliminates the need for external modems, while effectively providing a blank canvas for OEMs to augment data functionality across their solutions.
The Linux-based containerized environment allows OEMs to install their own software with ease, while the B&R IIoT connector provides tight integration between B&R and customer systems, allowing the streamlined implementation of e.g. dashboards, AI algorithms, updates, predictive maintenance. This also facilitates ease of communication with IT systems, whereby data can be handled, forwarded and exchanged in multiple formats.
