Our commitment to comply with the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The first edition of the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE-Directive 2002/96/EC) was implemented on 13th August 2005 throughout Europe. The revised Directive (2012/19/EU) was implemented on 14 February 2014. The purpose of this Directive is to prevent the uncontrolled disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment and to provide it with meaningful reuse, recycling or any other form of recovery. Please find below B&R’s collection, treatment, recycling and recovery arrangements in order to meet the requirements of the WEEE Directive.

For more information about the WEEE Directive, see the following link: EUR-Lex - 32012L0019 - EN - EUR-Lex (europa.eu)

According to this guideline, B&R products are identified as professional-use (Business-to-Business; B2B) products. In accordance with the WEEE Directive, all such products which fall in-scope of the Directive are marked with a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol. This symbol denotes that the product must be collected separately from other waste streams when it reaches end-of-life.

If you find the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on a product that you have purchased from us, as an operator and end-user, please take note of the following information below when disposing of our products when they reach end-of-life.

In Europe, you have two options for this:

  1.  You can hand over the old device to a local recycler and bear any costs incurred for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery; or
  2. You make use of the solution described by us below, in which case the costs are shared proportionally*:

B&R has a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and bears the costs for the treatment, recycling and recovery of old devices after they have been delivered to an EARN partner facility.

To send WEEE for recycling for which B&R is responsible, please open the "Return Form" web link below and enter your relevant company details. The document that is subsequently generated contains the relevant address of the EARN recycling facility, as well as your address as the sender of the old device, plus any other necessary information for processing. Please print this document twice, attach one copy to the package so that it is visible from the outside and place one copy inside the package with the old device.

Return Form

Please note:
• No deliveries will be accepted without prior approval. All costs for unapproved deliveries will be charged. Please note that B&R companies normally are not valid take-back points.
• You are responsible for organising the collection of old devices using the Return Form and you pay the transport costs to the appointed EARN facility.
• B&R pays the costs for the treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE upon receipt at the EARN facility.
• B&R pays the costs of data management and reporting to government agencies to demonstrate compliance with the administrative requirements of the WEEE Regulations in each particular country.

* Important note – For our customers in Luxembourg, do not use the Return Form. Instead, please contact EARN directly where you can organise WEEE collection and treatment separately. Under such arrangements in Luxembourg, B&R will also pay for the costs of shipment from the business end-user’s address to the EARN treatment facility.
