WEEE Information

The provisions of the European WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE Directive) have been implemented in France by the Environmental Code, Book V Title IV: Waste, Chapter III Section 10: Electrical and electronic equipment (Art. R. 543-171-1 to Art. R. 543-206-4) and Chapter I Subsection 2: Sectors subject to extended producer responsibility (Art. L. 541-10 to Art. L. 541-10-17).

According to the aforementioned legislation, manufacturers, distributors, and those who place electrical (and electronic) equipment on the market in France are obliged to register with an approved French compliance scheme and to pay fees to this organization for the provision of collection containers and the collection of old equipment.

B&R Automation France SARL is registered at Ecologic and Ecosystem with the unique identifier FR027115_056XP7.

More information can be obtained on www.ecologic-france.com  and on www.ecosystem.eco.

B&R Automation France SARL marks all products placed on the market after 13 August 2005, with the crossed-out wheelie bin (standard symbol for WEEE disposal):

The symbol shows that waste from electrical and electronic equipment with the appropriate marking must be disposed of separately from unsorted municipal waste.

Please note that each end user is responsible for deleting personal data from the electrical or electronic equipment.

Please remove used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the electrical or electronic device before handing it in at a collection point.

Substances contained in waste electric and electronic equipment can not only harm the environment but also the health of humans and animals if handled incorrectly.

If possible, please avoid creating waste from electric and electronic equipment, e.g. by giving preference to devices with a longer life. Please consider ways to reuse electric or electronical equipment instead of disposing of it, for example by recycling or re-using it.

The following options are available for disposal of old devices:

The Eco-Contribution

Since 15 November 2006, an "eco-contribution" for household WEEE has appeared on our bills. This contribution is for consumer information purposes and has no impact on the price of the final product.

Waste equipment from other than private households (business)

WEEE from other than private households (businesses) may not be disposed of via the municipal collection and take-back points. Please take advantage of ecosystem's free pickup and disposal services.

Battery Recycling

The European Waste Battery Directive (Directive 2006/66/EC) and the Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 have been transposed into French law by the Environmental Code, Book V Title IV: Waste, Chapter III Section 7: Batteries and accumulators (Art. R. 543-124 to Art. R.543-134) and Chapter I Subsection 2: Sectors subject to extended producer responsibility (Art. L. 541-10 to Art. L. 541-10-17).

The collection and recycling of batteries or accumulators for B&R Automation France SARL is organized in France by the take-back system Batribox. B&R Automation France SARL is registered with Batribox for portable batteries under the unique identifier FR026920_06MOVB

Batteries and waste batteries must be used and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. End users contribute to waste prevention by using batteries properly, protecting them from damage, heat and deep discharge, and following the manufacturer’s instructions in order to extend their service life. Where technically feasible, reuse, preparation for reuse, preparation for repurposing, repurposing and remanufacturing should also be considered.

Batteries and accumulators are marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol.

This means that batteries and accumulators cannot be disposed of with normal household waste and must be collected separately.

Collection points can be found anywhere batteries and accumulators are sold at local recycling points and/or through public-legal disposal mechanisms. Further information is available at www.batribox.fr

Safety instructions must be observed when handling waste batteries. Batteries must not be opened, damaged, heated or thrown into fire. Lithium batteries in particular may cause short circuits, fires or explosions if handled improperly. Damaged batteries must therefore be handled with particular care.

Labels and markings on batteries, packaging or accompanying documents provide important information on use, safety and disposal. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol means that batteries must be collected separately. Chemical symbols such as “Hg”, “Cd” or “Pb” indicate the presence of certain substances.

Batteries may contain substances that can endanger the environment and human health if disposed of improperly. This applies in particular to careless disposal, littering or disposal with residual waste. The separate collection of waste batteries helps to avoid risks and recover valuable raw materials.

Packaging Recycling

In France, the EU Packaging Directive 94/62/EC was implemented by the Environmental Code, Book V Title IV Waste Chapter III Section 5: Packaging (Articles R. 543-42 to R. 543-74) and the Environmental Code, Book V Title IV Waste Chapter I: Waste prevention and management (Articles L. 541-1 to L. 541-50), here, in particular, Subsection 2: Sectors subject to extended producer responsibility (Articles L. 541-10 to L. 541-10-17). The objective of the law is to avoid or reduce the impact of packaging waste on the environment and to regulate the behavior of the obligated parties in such a way that packaging waste is avoided as a matter of priority and, in addition, is prepared for reuse or recycled.

The collection and recycling of B&R Automation France SARL’s packaging materials is organized in France by the producer responsibility organization, CITEO. B&R Automation France SARL is registered with the unique identifier #####.

End users make an important contribution to waste prevention by avoiding packaging, using reusable packaging and disposing of packaging properly. Reusable packaging is intended for multiple use and should be used in accordance with the designated return and reuse systems.

Packaging waste must be disposed of separately in accordance with the applicable collection rules. Special disposal instructions apply to packaging containing hazardous substances or residues.

Improper disposal, for example by littering or disposing of packaging in residual waste, may harm the environment, human health and public safety.

Please do not dispose of packaging waste in your household waste but take it to separate collection. For this purpose, you can use the disposal options of the public waste disposal companies in your area. You can also obtain further information on the correct disposal of packaging and the return options available for packaging waste from your city or local authority.
