Senior Engineer - Business Development Industry

Job Description:

The Business Development- Industry: Prime responsibilities of the group would be to have B&R Brand recognition, brand Pull Creation and ultimate Brand Prescription. Additionally, they will track Investment assessments and over all Account management by creating customer satisfaction into End User market. They will not sell directly but ensure the other sales departments like OEM and PFA can sell easily into the market.


  • Growing spares, solutions, and services sales of B&R in assigned region.
  • Identifying, defining, and developing and executing the best strategy to create an ultimate pull of B&R brand into the assigned accounts. Getting B&R as prescription would be the ultimate goal.
  • Holding marketing and technical presentations and discussions with the customers to make them aware about advantages of B&R solutions.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) at all levels inside the assigned accounts.
  • End User satisfaction tracking and ensure resolution of issues if any by co-coordinating between OEM, PFA, Support and Service team. Complex cases to report to Managing Director for quick resolution.
  • CAPEX Investment tracking from End User market and keeping OEM and PFA team posted. Standardize B&R products and systems into the Electrical and Automation prescriptions.
  • Sharing leads with OEM and PFA Sales team.
  • Tracking of Installed base and documenting the same. This can come handy for OEM and PFA sales.
  • Protection of Installed Base is also responsibilities of BD-I Team.
  • Apply a high level of business acumen, including an understanding of the customer’s business drivers, industry, economic trends, issues and competition.
  • Meeting Technical Consultants and make them aware about the B&R products and solution. Getting prescription from them and finally creating a pull from Consultants into End User market.
  • Coordinate activities with other ABB Group Business unit. Partner with other ABB sales organizations to increase overall brand value of B&R.

Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong computer skills - Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Provide regular reports, briefings and reviews as required using the agreed processes.
  • Teamwork is very important for such roles, as full coordination has to achieve between other sales teams, spare handling, support, and hardware services.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Fluency in English, Strong verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make recommendations and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Organized and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player.


  • Electrical Engineering/ Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 2 years’ of solutions/ Products sales experience within Indian business environment, preferably in multinational companies.
  • Well-developed understanding of Industrial Automation systems like PLCs, motors, drives, motion control and robotic systems.
  • Well-developed understanding of the Industrial IoT market requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in building strong and enduring customer relationships within highly dynamic and competitive markets.
  • Capacity to establish effective networks in a multicultural setting.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and address key issues with maximum integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, executive communication, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi, oral and written. Further local languages are a plus.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 60% .
