The stuff the future is made of
After reconsidering their company strategy, the renowned Bavarian textile machine manufacturer LIBA will now once again be taking over the complete development and implementation of the control and drive solutions used in their machines. This paradigm shift was made possible by taking determined action and choosing automation solutions from B&R. Now, the company is positioned for future success.
Many machine manufacturers have to make their products in small series runs. Despite the highly specialized solutions they provide, European suppliers are still expected to deliver quality and reliability while continuing to reduce implementation times. Understanding this, LIBA took the opportunity to initiate a fundamental change in their development strategy.
The drive solutions they needed were then put into practice with the help of B&R. It was important for LIBA that one company was able to supply all of the components from the drive to the display. B&R's engineering environment Automation Studio was able to demonstrate its considerable strengths when developing the uniform software and visualization system used on all of the machines. This enables fully automatic configuration of the machine. Machine software updates in the field are also simple thanks to the use of CompactFlash cards for data storage. For drive technology, the LIBA engineers rely on the ACOPOSmulti drive generation from B&R and synchronization of the individual devices via POWERLINK. A touch screen terminal from the B&R Power Panel series handles both the visualization application and control of axis movements. Thanks to extensive diagnostics functions, error identification is also unproblematic.
