Your B&R Team
The physical world is growing increasingly networked. Will there soon be a network of conceptual approaches too? The Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 have traditionally been two separate movements, but efforts to align them are gaining momentum. We sat down with Tony Shakib of Cisco and Stefan Schönegger and Marc Ostertag of B&R to discuss the two approaches' similarities and differences – as well as the potential for synergy between them. This way to the full interview.
At the Hannover Messe, B&R announced its membership in the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC). B&R's involvement includes participation in the IIC's "Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) Testbed", where the combination of TSN and OPC UA is being tested for the first time in an industrial environment.
B&R recorded sales of €585 million in 2015 for an impressive 10% growth over the previous year, as announced by General Manager Peter Gucher at the B&R press conference held during the Hannover Messe. The B&R workforce continues to grow as well. By the end of 2015, B&R had a total of 2,820 employees around the world.
