The open and independent network technology available with ETHERNET Powerlink (EPL) provides real-time Ethernet for drives, I/O, visualization and data exchange between PLC systems. The increasingly important topic of safety has already been solved by EPLsafety. Unlike fieldbus-based safety protocols, EPLsafety is the first open system to offer low cycle times of 100 µs.
"With ETHERNET Powerlink, B&R has developed a network standard that is now being used by more than 300 companies for 80,000 installed nodes throughout the world and has been declared an ISO and IEC standard", states Bodo Hermann, management member at B&R Germany.
