COMAU Robotics chose B&R as partner for the development of a new integrated automation solution for the C4G robot control unit.
The anthropomorphic robots from COMAU will benefit from the innovative and modular servo drive system, ACOPOSmulti; a drive solution that has set new standards in the area of power electronics in regard to performance, compactness, cooling and user-friendly wiring.
Last but not least, the integrated safety technology will enable COMAU to achieve real added value in simplifying computer-guided systems and human-machine interaction. For control applications, COMAU Robotics will be using the latest generation of industrial PCs from B&R – the APC810 with Core 2 Duo-processor technology, which ensures high-performance with minimal power consumption, and the compact I/O X20 System, which features first-class quality, modularity and high signal density and resolution.
Furthermore, the hardware components are easily integrated in COMAU's proven system software logic by using the high-performance standard Ethernet POWERLINK communication protocol.
"By choosing the integrated automation solutions from B&R, we have founded a technological partnership that will certainly be beneficial to us in both the short and long term", explains the engineer Filoni, General Manager of COMAU Robotics.
Aside from the technical innovation behind by the products from B&R, the many benefits of Ethernet POWERLINK, the well-known standard and open protocol that enables communication of standard controller information, and the safety technology that is integrated using a single deterministic real-time network played a major role in COMAU's decision to sign this important agreement.
This decision in favor of B&R came after an extensive evaluation of the solutions and products available on the market by the experts at COMAU Robotics.
