Precisely maintaining the set temperature on extruders and injection molding machines greatly influences the quality of the products made. Even a few tenths of a degree can make the difference between a workpiece that meets the quality criteria and one that is rejected. In addition, new set values for temperature must be approached as quickly as possible and without overshooting them in order to reduce energy consumption.
For this reason, B&R developed a new solution that allows intelligent and energy-efficient closed loop temperature control - an important addition to the automation product line amid increasing environmental awareness.
Perfect suppression of disturbances and jumping to set values without overshooting
The algorithms from B&R ensure a constant melting temperature during operation, and also ensure that the set values are approached quickly without overshooting them when starting up from a standstill after a tool or material change. The closed loop temperature controller can be expanded to cover an unlimited number of zones and can be integrated seamlessly into the rest of the automation project.
Suitable closed loop control parameters for heating and cooling are determined completely automatically during a self-learning procedure without requiring input from the user. Great importance was also given to the efficient use of time and energy during the autotuning process.
