The Upper Austrian automation specialist Bernecker + Rainer Industrie-Elektronik GmbH (B&R) in Eggelsberg achieved total sales of € 235 million in 2006 compared to € 190 million reached in the previous year. This reflects an increase of over 23%. During this time, the number of employees has increased to over 1,500 worldwide. Over 1,000 of these employees work at headquarters in Eggelsberg, where the production, development, and administrative facilities are located.

"We are very proud of our success. It allows us to consolidate our position as a leader in innovation and technology in the area of integrated automation," said Hans Wimmer, Managing Director at B&R.

This isn't simply a result of increased activity in the automation market; rather, it is based on increasing internationalization and constant innovation. B&R continues to invest approximately 18% of total sales in research and development.
